User Interface Standard for ODE Solvers

Under the sponsorship of Office of Basic Energy Sciences in the U.S. Dept. of Energy, tentative efforts are under way to produce a systematized collection of high-quality ordinary differential equation (ODE) solvers (initial-value problem). As a first step, a set of standards for the interface between the user and the solvers was developed over the last several months. Extensive discussions with people from six DOE laboratories, and others, resulted in the user interface standard, which is summarized here. (ERA citation 04:025142)
