摘要

An ion beam technique has been used to study the concentration of deuterium as a function of depth in 18Ni250 maraged steel. The technique involves the D(D,P)T reaction induced in samples by a deuteron beam, combined with computer analysis of the energy spectrum of the reaction protons. Measurements of concentrations down to 10 weight parts/million have been achieved, following the introduction of the deuterium into samples by cathodic charging. The concentration profiles were found to possess an initial maximum at a depth of about 2 microns. It is inferred that deuterium migrated both into the bulk and to the surface where it escaped, both during and after cathodic charging. (Atomindex citation 14:757595)
