OCCIDENTAL VERTICAL MODIFIED IN SITU PROCESS FOR THE RECOVERY OF OIL PROM OIL SHALE Phase I Quarterly Progress Report for the Period February 1, 1978 thru April 30, 1978
Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide were sampled by means of gas bubblers with a flow rate of 0.2 liters per minute. Suspended particulates were collected by using a high-volume sampler. Carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and methane were collected by bag samplers. Hydrogen sulfide was collected on filters impregnated with AgNO . At the conclusion of each 24-hour measurement period, the air quality samples were sealed, packaged and forwarded by bus to the Coors Spectro-Chemical Laboratory in Golden, Colorado for analysis.nThe analytical methods used to determine the concentrations of sulfur dioxide, suspended particulates, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and methane followed procedures specified by EPA in the Federal Register. Nitrogen-dioxide concentrations were determined by using a modified Saltzman colorimetric technique. Hydrogen-sulfide concentrations were determined by following a standard laboratory procedure for analyzing AgNO3 – impregnated filters.
