A computer model is presented which calculates the long-term gamma dose rate caused by the radioactive off-gas continuously emitted from a stack. The frequency distribution of the wind direction and velocity and of the stability categories is taken into account. The emitted activity, distributed in the atmosphere according to these statistics, is assumed to be concentrated at the mesh points of a three-dimensional grid. The grid spacing and the integration limits of the individual dose amounts determine the accuracy as well as the computer time needed. When calculating the dose rate in a given wind direction, the contribution of the activity emitted into the neighboring sectors is evaluated. (ERA citation 03:035943)
