摘要

The vapor phase fluid passes through a low pressure turbine and then to a condenser cooled by waters pumped from ocean depths up to 3,000 feet. The condensed working fluid 1s then returned to the warm water heat exchanger (evaporator), and the cycle 1s renewed. Energy extracted by the turbine 1s used to generate electric power either for transmission to shore or for direct usage in an associated, energy-intensive manufacturing, chemical processing use.nOne set of contracts is involved with the design of various size power cycle modules. Another set of contracts is involved with the configuration of the electric cable subsystem of both the riser/umbilical and bottom transmission cable. A third set of three contracts is involved with the configuration analysis of the OTEC Commercial Plant plats forms. This report describes the Gibbs & Cox, Inc. studies conducted under one of these three contracts.
