AN ANALYTICAL FRAMEWORK FOR THE ASSESSMENTnOF ENERGY RESOURCE AND TECHNOLOGYnOPTIONS FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

This report presents a brief summary of the analytical approach being used for the initial country assessments in the Department of Energy International Energy Program. One of the goals of that program is to assist developing coun¬tries in identifying the major energy resource and technology options available to them. That identification of options can then be used to formulate collaborative energy programs of various kinds. In this paper we do not discuss the goals and strategies of the overall DOE program but concentrate on the energy systems analysis approach used in the program. Nevertheless, the analytical approach has been chosen to satisfy the needs of the overall program.
