In summary, initial and boundary concentrations can have an influence on model computed results for suburban and downwind areas that approaches the importance of emissions, and can have a significant influence on calculations of secondary pollutants even in central urban areas. Moreover, this is true even when the initial and boundary concentrations are of the order of 1-100 ppb.nIn most applications, there are almost no data available that are really useful in guiding the choice of boundary conditions, and data obtained with normal air quality modeling instruments are so imprecise that they are more likely to be misleading than useful.
