摘要

The objective of this research program is to investigate the technical and economic, feasibility of producing solar-cell-quality sheet silicon. We hope to do this by coating one surface of carbonized ceramic substrates with a thin layer of large-grain poly-crystalline silicon from the melt.nBeginning the middle of February 1978, we expanded our program to include activities funded by the Task VI Cell Development Group of the Low-Cost Solar Array (LSA) pro¬gram at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This work is directed toward the solution of unique cell processing/design problems encountered within the silicon-on-ceramic (SOC) material due to its intimate contact with the ceramic substrate.
