Dynamic Memory Management for Structured Programs

摘要

The development of a formal memory manager for use in a large applications code system at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory is described. The problems faced are likely to exist in many large software projects. Since memory space is always at a premium in large codes, designing good software is sometimes difficult. It is shown that a well-designed memory manager can make efficient use of limited memory resources and promote structured software design. Further benefits are also discussed. (ERA citation 06:006809)
