摘要

Stimulated Brillouin scattering of microwave radiation is investigated in an underdense laboratory plasma. The energy and momentum selection rules are seen to be satisfied for a variety of incident wavelengths (lambda sub 0 = 3 approx. 10 cm) and ion species (He, Ne, Ar and Kr). The threshold power, growth rate and scattered power appear to be consistent with the finite interaction length theory. Saturation of the backscatter is observed and compared with existing theories.
