摘要

Since no archeological remains were uncovered in the proposed DWPF construction area, it is recommended that the area be cleared for archeological purposes. To assure preservation of any buried sites well beneath the present ground surface in the construction area, it is suggested that the Department of Energy arrange to have an archeologist monitor the excavation of the building sites for the DWPF. By monitoring we feel that to keep the construction progress unencumbered a process be devised by which an archeologist makes daily checks of the spoil piles for archeological material. Regarding related construction on the periphery of the main construction area (e.g. roads, powerlines, waterlines), it is recommended that the triangle formed by the roads F, 4 and E be cleared for construction of any type for archeological purposes. However, it is recommended that the Department of Energy notify the archeologists to monitor the construction for possible buried sites. Although the site 38AK261 is not considered to be significant to present or future research, it is recommended that an archeologist be notified when construction in that area is to take place in order to monitor any archeological materials uncovered.
