Increasing use is being made of computer codes to predict the dynamic response of a fast reactor containment following a hypothetical energy excursion. The validation work on those parts of the United Kingdom codes ASTARTE and SEURBNUK concerning the prediction of deformation of the primary vessel and other thin shells, is reported.
