Iodine-129 Dose to the World Population from the Nuclear Power Industry

Because of the 15.7 million-year half life for exp 129 I and the mobility of iodine in the environment, releases of exp 129 I result in potential radiological impacts on the entire world population essentially in perpetuity. This paper presents estimates of dose to the world population from releases of exp 129 I by the world nuclear power industry during the years 1975 to 2020. (ERA citation 05:024628)
