Analysis of Environmental Impacts of Water Level Fluctuation in Reservoirs at Hydroelectric Sites

Potential significance, on a site-specific basis, of water-level-fluctuation impacts ranges from benign (run-of-the-river plants) to possibly significant enough to require mitigation. It is emphasized that efforts to develop small hydroelectric sites that entail water-level fluctuation should include a careful analysis of the types of impacts. The potential significance of these impacts should be evaluated as an integral part of initial studies of site feasbility. (ERA citation 05:004137)
