Technical Analysis of Steam Coal Prices In Six OECD Countries

In order to evaluate and interpret steam coal prices reported for a particular country, it is necessary to understand the determining factors behind them. Below is a brief summary of each of the three analytical steps: (1) the review and assessment of the current reported prices, (2) the compar¬ison of these prices with the estimated marginal costs, and (3) the review of regional coal production and consumption patterns in these six countries.
