Development of Laboratory Apparatus Dedicated to the Study of Hydride--Dehydride Reactions

Hydrogen-compatible laboratory apparatus has been designed and developed to study hydride--dehydride reactions at elevated pressures and temperatures. The system has operated at pressures and temperatures up to 34 MPa and 550 exp 0 C during experiments conducted on LiAlH sub 4 and NiZr. Instrumentation incorporated into the system also allows differential thermal analysis and acoustic emission data to be collected as the chemical reactions progress. 13 figures.
