Yield Measurements in the Reactions exp 48 Ca(P, gamma ) exp 49 Sc and exp 48 Ca(P,N) exp 48 Sc.

Absolute cross sections for the reactions exp 48 Ca(p, gamma ) exp 49 Sc and exp 48 Ca(p,n) exp 48 Sc have been measured for proton bombarding energies from 0.76 MeV to 2.20 MeV. The results are in satisfactory agreement with predictions of the Hauser-Feshback statistical model of nuclear reactions. In particular, the predicted flattening out of the (p, gamma ) cross section above the threshold for the (p,n sub 3 ) channel is consistent with the data. (Atomindex citation 12:603993)
