This report was prepared in support of the "Environmental Impact Statement on Management of Commercially Generated Radioactive Wastes", D0E/EIS-0046-D. The scope of this report is limited to technology for management of post-fission wastes produced in the commercial nuclear power light-water reactor (LWR) fuel cycle. Management of spent fuel (as a waste), high-level and other transuranic (TRU) wastes, and gaseous wastes are characterized. Non-transuranic wastes are described but management of these wastes, except for gaseous wastes, is excluded from the scope of this report.nInformation was developed in sufficient detail to enable environmental impact assessments of the waste management activities to be made. These assessments are contained in a companion document, "Environmental Aspects of Commercial Radioactive Waste Management," D0E/ET-0029.
