The world and U. S. demand for energy is expected to grow at a slower rate than in the past, and at least during the next decade the world supply of energy is expected to meet this demand. The United States is far from being energy independent, and since our declaration to achieve energy self sufficiency a few years ago, we have in fact become more dependent upon imported fuels. Thus, it has become increasingly important to develop and implement the use of alternative energy sources.nSolar energy is one of the promising "new" energy sources and application:are being developed through the support of public funds managed and administered by the U. S. Department of Energy and other federal agencies. Many state governments are promoting solar energy utilization vigorously. Private entities and corporations are also investing in solar research and development.
