An Assessment of Geothermal Development in the Imperial Valley of California Volume 2 - Environmental Control Technology

Environmental control technologies are essential elements to be included 1n the overall design of Imperial Valley geothermal power systems. This report assesses environmental controls applicable to abatement of hydrogen sulfide emissions, cooling tower drift, noise, liquid and solid wastes, and induced subsidence and seismicity.nSeveral currently available and emerging H2S abatement technologies are applicable to power systems contemplated for the Imperial Valley. For optimum abatement of H2S under a variety of plant operating conditions, removal of H2S upstream of the steam turbine is recommended.
