Solar Assessment of Non-Federal Public Buildings in the Northeast Region

The activities and results of the Non-Federal Public Buildings Assessment are presented. The thrust of the project was solely on domestic hot water and space heating applications, with energy provided by active or passive solar thermal, wood, and possibly, wind. Individual state summaries are included which were abstracted from the final reports submitted by the states. Three appendices are included as examples of the delivered results of this project. The examples shown demonstrate three different approaches to this assessment and are typical of the accomplishments in the other states. The New Hampshire example is that of a consultant architectural and engineering firm performing the assessment. The New York example is for a self-assessment performed by the building manager. The Pennsylvania example is of data collection by the individual building manager with judgment made by the State Energy Office upon return of data. (ERA citation 05:020381)
