A detailed experimental study of the electronic structure of a transition metal-hydrogen interstitial alloy is presented in this thesis. Data on the Fermi surface and on the electron scattering rates of palladium-hydrogen and palladium-deuterium are obtained from de Haas-van Alphen experiments using a torque balance spectrometer and a field modulation spectrometer. The present results suggest that the isotope effect observed in the superconductive transition temperature of concentrated PdH(D)sub(x) is, at least partly, due to a difference in the electronic structure of PdHsub(x) compared to that of PdDsub.
