Energy Data Reports: Sales of Liquefied Petroleum Gases and Ethane in 1979

In 1979, sales of liquefied petroleum gases and ethane totaled 18.9 billion gallons. Sales for use as raw materials in chemical manufactures, the largest end use category amounted to 8.2 billion gallons in 1979, accounting for 43.1% of total reported sales. Residential and commercial fuel use sales, the second largest, aggregated 4.7 billion gallons representing 25.1% of the total. The remaining end use categories include industrial use (including refinery fuels use) with sales of 2.1 billion gallons; internal combustion engine fuel use (excluding use in farm machinery), 0.4 billion gallons; gas utilities (peak shaving), 0.8 billion gallons; and miscellaneous uses, 2.7 billion gallons.
