摘要

The migrational behaviour of deuterium in the near-surface region of stainless steels has been studied using an ion-beam technique. The results have relevance to the problem of hydrogen embrittlement, since the deuterium was loaded into the steels by cathodic charging, which when prolonged induced surface cracks. Measurements were made of the concentration profiles of the deuterium from the surface down to a depth approaching 10 mu m, most of the deuterium being found to reside in this region in 304L steel.
