Canadian Hydrogen-Combustion Studies Related to Nuclear-Reactor-Safety Assessment

This paper describes the experimental program at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited to study the combustion behaviour of hydrogen at conditions postulated for nuclear reactor accidents. It includes some of the results obtained to date, namely the effect of steam on the combustion behavior of hydrogen-air mixtures near the lower flammability limit, and the effect of temperature on the burning velocities of hydrogen-air mixtures.
