Compilation of Reported Noble Gas Effluent Monitor Capabilities at Operating Nuclear Power Plants

A compilation of noble gas effluent monitoring systems was made for all nuclear power plants operating in the United States in order to characterize their effectiveness in monitoring an event comparable to the Three Mile Island accident. This report summarizes the capability of existing systems with respect to measurement of the maximum detectable concentrations and release rates, readout ranges, and any automatic isolation and/or alarm functions they are designed to perform.
