Trajectory Analysis of the Electrons in a Magnetron-Type Gun. Progress Report

Modification is introduced in the Herrmannsfeldt electron trajectory code to analyze the trajectories in magnetron injection guns with perveances I/V/sup 3/2/ in the range of 10 exp -5 Perv. When tested on a particular magnetron gun, the computed perveance agreed well with experimental data for values V/B/sup 2/ less that or equal to 0.006, the flow was nearly laminar with V/sub perpendicular//V/sub parallel/ values reaching 12%. For larger voltages, both experiment and calculations indicate a turbulent electron flow. (ERA citation 06:029586)
