Planning for Electric Utility Solar Applications: The Effects on Reliability and Production Cost Estimates of the Variability in Demand

Previous studies have shown the necessity of the consideration of hourly variability in the output from the intermittent generation source. However, the studies did not take into account the variability in the demand. A result is presented which shows that under general conditions the variability due to randomness can be ignored except in the neighborhood of the peak and minimum demands. (ERA citation 05:027189)
