Preliminary Power Production, Fuel Consumption, and Installed Capacity Data for 1979

Electric utility and industrial installed capacity and power production data are reported. Also contained are data on consumption and stocks of fossil fuels for electric utilities. Data are compiled from the Monthly Powerplant Reports filed with the Energy Information Administration. Attention is given primarily to annual statistics, but monthly data are included frequently. The information is aggregated by geographic region and by State, with totals for the United States. Subtotals for energy source and type of prime mover (generating plant) are provided. The narrative analyzes trends and highlights statistics. 10 tables. (ERA citation 05:033733)
