Proposed standard were released this spring. They must still under go internal review, public comment, and receive Nuclear Regulatory Commission concurrence before finalized. The proposed standards, however, go given us a general idea of what will be required.nThe drinking-water standards apply at (1) distances more than 1.0 km from inactive (old) processing sites; and (2) distances more than 100 meters from new disposal sites. Any mixing of tailings-derived materials with surface water used by the public is prohibited.
