AR Film on Phase-Separated Glass. Final Report, January 1979-April 1980

Etching a phase-separated glass can produce a surface film with low refractive index that increases gradually to the bulk value. This report demonstrates that such a graded index can be produced on optical quality glass for use with intense pulses of energy at 1.06 mu m. The film reduces reflections and raises the threshold against damage of the surface by the transmitted energy. (ERA citation 06:001731)
