Development of a 40-Kilowatt Wind-Turbine Generator. Phase I. Design and Analysis. Executive Summary

A program to design, fabricate and test a horizontal axis wind turbine generator capable of producing 40 kW electrical output power in a 20 mph wind is discussed. A summary of the results of the Phase I program effort covering design tradeoff studies, preliminary design and analysis, and the final design effort is presented. Additional work covered under Phase I included cost studies and test planning activities.
