The magnetic shielding properties of prolate spheroidal, spherical, and cylindrical ferromagnetic shells are studied. Assuming linear ferromagnetic behavior, which is characterized by a single shell permeability ( mu ), theory and codes are developed for calculating the magnetic fields within the shell material itself and the fields inside and outside the shell. We also calculate the location and magnitude of the maximum anti B-field within the shell material. The purpose of this calculation is to determine where the initial shell saturation will occur when the applied magnetic field is increased. (ERA citation 07:006340)
