摘要

A pragmatic mathematical model of a flame of burning wood chips supported in a large furnace is described. The model responds to various furnace conditions and will predict the values of several flame parameters. The most important user-selected condition are: starting temperature; wood chip size; fuel-to-air ratio (i.e., the excess air); and fuel flow rate. In addition there are several other less important conditions which may be set by the user. The most important flame parameters calculated in the model are: unburned mass remaining at any point; and temperature at any point. In addition, the model calculates the total heat transferred to the walls and the burnout length, i.e., the point at which all combustibles have been burned.
