Polytopicity of Ionic Ternary Compounds

The high temperature Raman spectra of the alkali metal and thallium perrhenates have been obtained, and the best fit to the structure has been determined to be a tetrahedral anion whose symmetry is unperturbed by the cation. The molecule has been described as polytopic or ''dynamorphic,'' and a possible description of the mechanism involving cation mobility has been presented. 335 refs., 39 figs., 6 tabs.
