New and Renewable Energy in the United States of America

摘要

This report is a contribution of the United States of America to preparations for the 1981 United Nations Conference on New and Renewable Sources of Energy. It describes the current technical and economic status of technologies and US experience with and expectations for new and renewable energy sources in the United States. It also outlines the roles of the public and private sectors in developing and using these energy sources. Specific technologies discussed are: low, intermediate, and high temperature solar collectors; biomass, wind, and ocean energy systems; hydropower; geothermal systems; oil shale; and tar sands. A short bibliography and suggestions for obtaining additional information are included. A glossary and a list of acronyms relating to the special terms used by developers and users of the technologies are also included. (ERA citation 06:034987)
