Phased-Mission System Reliability Analysis Volume 1: Methodology

This report is the final documentation of the Phased Mission Analysis Methodology Development Project sponsored by the Electric Power Research Institute at The University of Tennessee. In addition to this report, a computer program for Phased Mission Analysis, called PHAMAS, and its user's manual entitled "PHAMAS, a Computer Program for Phased Mission Reliability Analysis" have been developed for this Project. A paper entitled "A Methodology for Calculating the Expected Number of Failures of a System Undergoing a Phased Mission" was published in Nuclear Science and Engineering (74,199-209 (1980)) also as a product of this work.nThis report presents new concepts and terminology. A glossary of terms is provided early in the report to aid the reader. A fundamental understanding of existing reliability mathematics is required to understand the quantitative methodology presented.
