Connection Between Nonleptonic K/sub 2 pi / and D/sub K pi / Decays and Constraints on the Quark-Spectator Model

We show that a unified picture of the current-current amplitudes for K/sub 2 pi / and D/sub K pi / weak nonleptonic decays requires the spectator-quark model to be valid. We then demonstrate that these amplitudes are consistent with data and QCD color suppression provided the color-suppressed to color-enhanced amplitude ratio is of opposite sign as compared to that found by neglecting color-octet terms in the Fierz identity.
