This booklet covers in detail all the procedures prior to and including fermentation that are necessary to produce the highest possible yields from small-scale ethanol plants. Batch starch conversion of corn, barley, wheat, and milo using enzymes ( alpha -amylase and glucoamylase) from bacteria and fungi is described. The types of yeast to use in fermenting the mash and the equipment and chemicals needed are detailed. Refinements that can help to improve ethanol production are presented. (ERA citation 09:022118)
