摘要

An optimization strategy is developed for specifying the mass rate and temperature difference for given heat loads to minimize energy consumption. Energy savings potentials were quantified for a large class of existing structures which employ electric water chillers and air circulation fans to provide space cooling. The graphical results, along with instructions for their use, are presented. The format of presentation is designed to aid a building owner or operator in estimating savings, based on potential for simultaneous fan slowdown and chilled water temperature reduction.
