Experimental data of neutron-rich even tin, antimony and tellurium nuclei studied in beta decay are presented. Some of these nuclei are differing from the doubly closed shell nucleus exp 132 Sn in only a few nucleons. The alpha decay of astatine and polonium nuclei in the vicinity of the doubly closed shell nucleus exp 208 Pb has also been studied. The short-lived beta and alpha activities have been analysed using an isotope separator on-line technique. The experimental results have been compared to calculations performed within the nuclear shell model. (Atomindex citation 12:640441)
