Luminescence and Energy Transfer in Rare Earth Aluminium Borates

摘要

The principal aim of this thesis is to study the luminescence and energy transfer properties of a series of different RE exp 3+ ions in another 'stoichiometric' material, viz. YAl sub 3 B sub 4 O sub 12 , using time-resolved site-selection spectroscopy techniques. Furthermore, the luminescence properties of Bi exp 3+ and Cr exp 3+ incorporated into YAl sub 3 B sub 4 O sub 12 are investigated.
