The results of a venture analysis study are presented, involving building a freestanding alcohol fermentation plant utilizing whey permeate from the six major cheese producers in upstate New York. Alternative Concepts for Energy, ACE, jointly owned by three New England distributors of gasoline and other fuels, would produce the alcohol for use as a gasoline additive. The distillers dried solubles (DDS) resulting as a by-product would be sold primarily to local mills for blending into feed for the dairy, poultry and pet markets. (ERA citation 07:061068)
