Use of a Mortality-Ratio Matrix as a Health Index

摘要

The use of age- and cause-specific death ratios, for three selected countries, Chile, Japan, and the United States, showed changes in the health of these populations that are consistent with their histories of development. The changes in relative importance of respiratory tuberculosis and other infectious and parasitic diseases clearly reflect the impact of the changes in quality of life in the three countries. The increases seen in the levels of neoplasms and cardiovascular diseases agree with previously found correlations with industrial development. (ERA citation 07:051869)
