摘要

A highly sensitive technique based on high temperature oxide electrolyte cells has been developed for the study of initial oxidation of metals. Experimental results show that the initial stages of nickel and iron oxidation are a complicated process involving possibly adsorption, diffusion, lattice transformation, etc. A high temperature oxide electrolyte cell has also been incorporated into an ultra-high vacuum surface analysis chamber. The purpose is to determine the electronic properties and structural properties and structual properties of the oxygen-metal systems during the initial oxidation reactions. (ERA citation 07:044138)
