A simple, steady-state model of an entrained pilot plant gasifier has been extended to include the simulation of transient operation. The model results were compared with unsteady-state data from experimental tests of the pilot plant (15 TPD) gasifier at Texaco's Research Laboratory at Montebello, California. It was shown qualitatively that the model can satisfactorily predict experimental transients. A quantitative validation could not be obtained because of equipment limitations at the pilot plant.
