摘要

To understand neutron thermalization in moderators containing hydrogen it is important to know the neutron-nuclei scattering dynamics explaining the temperature dependence of scattering cross sections in the thermal energy region. For the moderator materials light and heavy water, polyethylene and the metal hydrides of zirconium and yttrium differential and integral scattering cross sections are evaluated and compared to the free gas approximation at relevant temperatures.
