This paper reports a comparative study of glass forming ability, dynamics of formation and thermal stability of binary alloys. In this discussion we will call MG only those which can be quenched from the supercooled melt and usually exhibit a glass transition, while the term AM will be restricted to a non-crystalline material which can normally be prepared only in the form of thin films by deposition on substrates which are kept sufficiently cool to prevent crystallization.
