Atmospheric Concentrations of Pesticides Above Treated Fields

Recently reported differences in concentration profiles for pesticides above a treated field are explained using different, fetch-dependent surface-to-air fluxes of the pesticides. In turn, the surface-to-air flux of each pesticide depends on its air/surface partition coefficient. Using realistic differences in partition coefficients, we explain most features of the reported data, without assuming that diffusion in a turbulent atmosphere is influenced by molecular properties of the dispersing vapor. 10 references, 7 figures.
