摘要

We have performed a very precise measurement of the structure factor of liquid germanium at 1223K and 1473K using a 640-cell position sensitive detector. The coordination number is found to be nearly insensitive to the temperature. On the other hand, the obtained structure factors are compared with those deduced from both quasicrystalline and hard sphere type models in order to explain the strong change of the coordination number of the germanium at the melting point.
